*Fire Cupping: Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin. Cupping has been characterized as a pseudoscience. Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. This suction draws out toxins and stagnant energy within the muscles of the body. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. The therapist will put a flammable substance such as alcohol, herbs, or paper in a cup and set it on fire. As the fire goes out, he puts the cup upside down on your skin.
As the air inside the cup cools, it creates a vacuum. This causes your skin to rise and redden as your blood vessels expand. The cup is generally left in place for up to 3 minutes.
This type of therapy may leave red or black circle shaped marks on the area of application. These marks are the evident results of the toxins being drawn up to the surface of your skin before it is flushed out and eliminated through the body's natural waste system. The more toxins in the body, the more chance of possible marks on the area of application. These marks may last from a couple of days, to a couple of weeks- as the body eliminates the toxins.

There are many techniques that may be used during a massage/rehabilitation session. Altering of pressure, sequence and type of techniques being used will be assessed during the treatment session. For fragile clients, presice and gentle, yet effective care will be utilized. Examples of fragile clients are:

Older Patients
Patients with Rhematoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Muscle Pain Syndrome and other severe pain causing disorders

It is very important to drink plenty of water following a massage session. This is important due to the fact that massage improves circulation. While circulation flow is increased, it assists in flushing out the toxins in the body that are broken up within the muscles. Drinking plenty of water helps to flush these toxins and impurities out of the body. If proper fluid intake is NOT administered, the client may get side effects such as lethargy and a feeling of malaise. This is because the body is pulling at whatever fluid is already in the body to help flush out the toxins. Dehydration results along with a build up of toxin- from being accumulated and not completely and properly flushed out of the system.
Even if plenty of fluid is taken after a massage, a person may still feel a discomfort or weak feeling. Every person is different, therefore, some may feel very relaxed and much better in regards to health immediately. The lethargic feeling that some may experience is caused from the body trying to adjust and accept the healing process. The muscles may be sore in some clients that may have received a deep tissue massage. As the muscles adjust to the removal of toxin, the client will also adjust to this process and feel invigorated and rejuvenated. This may take 2 to 3 days.

Herbal oils, creams and lotions are not only beneficial for the purpose of providing lubrication during a massage setting, but most herbal oils have many medicinal benefits that tailor to the condition of the client. Care and Caution is also needed in this case. Just as certain oils can be a benefit during massage, there are also certain oils that can cause harm to some clients with certain ailments or conditions. For example: peppermint oil should not be used with pregnant clients. Pepperment oil may cause harm to the unborn child and fragile expecting mother.

It is very important for the energy of the client and the ambiance to connect. If the client is not comfortable or at ease by there surroundings, then it would be harder for the relaxation process to come into effect. Aromatherapy needs to be adjusted to clients with respiratory conditions and sensitivity to aromas. Lighting of the room should be adjusted to a peaceful, relaxing tone in order to promote a relaxing mood.
